I just read that Rob Roper is running for State Republican Party Chair. Roper is currently involved in the Vermont chapter of Freedom Works – the lower taxes, less government activist group formed by Dick Armey.

This could be a great day for the Republican Party. Hey, maybe a small state can lead the nation. One can only hope.

You can read the article here. I will be back with more commentary when I am feeling better!

  1. I see Mr. Parent is running against Mr. Roper. Interesting how he is a Pizzagalli Construction employee. Pizzagalli is a big GOP donor, especially to progressive GOPers who are backed by the Ripon Society. I suspect if Parent gets in Ripon will suddenly have some more weight to throw around.

  2. I hope your lover boys of the so-called left see your endorsement of the homophobic, anti-union, and otherwise reactionary Roper.

It’s nice to see your true colors, Charity. Honesty is a good thing.

  3. Hello Charity,

I think it would be a great thing for the republicans to have him as their chair. I’ve met him and heard him speak several times and I agree with him on many issues.

Vermont FreedomWorks has helped serve as a collaborative group for both small government republicans and libertarians within the state to work on issues together. It would seem that if Rob were chair that there could be more opportunities for both libertarians and republicans to work on issues of similar interest.

I think that by having Rob as chair of the Vermont Republican party could help further the causes of liberty by hopefully holding elected republicans and future candidates to principles of less government, lower taxes and more freedom.

  4. Rob has great skills, is smart and articulate. Alan is good as well. I do not think that the committee style is the way to go. We need a leader, whoever that may be, who can articulate Republican principles amidst a liberal press that attempts to distort and trash Republicans.

  5. I bet Parent wins.

  6. Oh, Snarky Boy. I am sure my liberal blogger buddies will be so shocked to read that I support someone who favors less government and lower taxes. I have kept that view so quiet up until now. Please.

  7. Charity,

Here is what I want to know…Who does he think will win the Burlington/South Burlington boy’s hockey game on Saturday night?

  8. Rob has the energy we need to turn this GOP ship around….which needs some turning!

So many GOP-ers became disappointed in their party this last election cycle. Rob can bring the hope we need.

  9. Rob is very intelligent when it comes to understanding policy. Rob would be a great leader and good at bringing the various parts/opinion holders of the VT GOP together!!!
