We’re all battling a nasty head cold here in the She’s Right household, so there will be no post today. I figure the least I can do is leave you with a few gleanings from the ‘net-o-sphere.

JD Ryan has a scathing look at the Obama campaign with, “Obama: More Audacity of Hype.” What I wouldn’t give to see that on the front page of GMD.

Cal Thomas thinks “Republicans Should Visit Vermont.” The reason is not what you might think. I think Cal Thomas – my favorite columnist – should let us know next time he’s coming to Vermont.

This New York Times Op-Ed piece explains that marriage failure rates are not what the MSM would have us believe.

Speaking of things that are not what some believe, I was looking for a post somewhere that sums up the whole phony soldier-gate pseudo-scandal, without the vitriol. Not surprisingly, National Review Online delivers.

So let’s make sure we have this straight.

There really was a news story, generated by the mainstream media of all people, about phony soldiers — poseurs who falsely claim to have put their lives on the line in our country’s armed forces, at least some of whom engage the pretense precisely to libel real heroes as terrorists and marauders. Rush Limbaugh, one of this nation’s single-most ardent supporters of the military, was briefed on the news story by his staff and was, unsurprisingly, offended by it.

Rush alluded to the said phony soldiers during his hugely successful daily radio broadcast, prompted by what he reasonably believed was a caller’s reference to it.

As a result, he is being castigated for dishonoring authentic troops in a trumped up controversy generated by Media Matters — a left-wing propaganda machine with pockets lined by left-wing activists. The charge is being led by top Democrats who, when not busy defending other top Democrats for smearing our troops as “reminiscent of Genghis Khan,” terrorists, murderers, and comparable to “Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others — that had no concern for human beings,” fall mute when the vanguard of their hard-left base, MoveOn.org (abetted by the New York Times), describes the general heroically leading our forces in Iraq a traitor.

And this is a story?

Happy Thursday!

  1. Is the MoveOn thing a story as well, concocted and inflamed by the right-wing noise machine? The Rush bullshit is the latest in the line of him getting a pass and not being held to the same as the left, whether it be the ‘phony soldiers’ thing (*which he, not the caller, said), the Barack the Magic Negro thing, etc. THe GOP is going to give him a pass, because the mouthbreathers that constitute ‘the base’ still take the chickenhawk/sex-tourist/pill-popping Rush seriously, unfortunately.

You cons have mastered the art of the double standard. THe compartmentalized way in which your brains function probably aren’t even aware of the inconsistencies in your thinking. It’s only bad when Dems or lefties do it.When it’s you’re side, it’s “taken out of context’ or “fabricated by the media”. So much for that ‘personal responsibility’ thing y’all like to harp on all the time. Maybe that’s just a media fabrication, too, because I hear it talked about but never followed up on.

It’s going to be interesting come next November, when the GOP is a substantial minority after the coming electoral bloodbath. Maybe they’ll finally be a bit of truth to the whiny persecution complex they’ve used to keep the uncritical base in line.

  2. Oh, and I didn’t even notice you linked to me. (I see “Rush Limbaugh” or “National Review Online” and just start typing.). Thanks for the hit, gal. I may be ornery and love giving you hell (moreso now that the con movement is going in the crapper), but I still loves ya!

  3. National Review Online delivers…

NRO delivers nothing but poop, Charity. The people at the National Review are a bunch of murderous demons. And of course Rush Limbaugh is a complete disgrace.

Sorry to hear y’all aren’t feeling well. Get better soon.
