I was just reading a column by Peggy Noonan which really sums up what I don’t like about Huckabee’s self-dubbed “the Christian candidate” status.
That guy is using the cross so I’ll like him. That doesn’t tell me what he thinks of Jesus, but it does tell me what he thinks of me. He thinks I’m dim. He thinks I will associate my savior with his candidacy. Bleh.
Bleh, indeed.

Ron Paul nailed it quoting Sinclair Lewis.

Yeah, it is scary what people will go along with when it is propped up with the flag or the cross.

I agree that the Huckabee candidacy is a new low in blatantly using one’s faith to try and get elected. We have, unfortunately, been on a path towards this kind of talk for quite a while though, and I don’t know when we’ll finally be able to put the “religious thing” to bed finally. Who cares what religion a politican is? There is no religious test to be President…period.

Yes, bu the kinds of voters who buy into Huckabee’s line of crap tend to be some of the most gullible, ill-informed people on the planet (such as young-earth creationist types), so is there anything surprising about that?

I’m not a Southern Baptist or an Evangelical, however, I see nothing wrong in using one’s faith the way Huckabee has.
