		<description>A candidate needs a certain number of signatures of registered voters to appear on the ballot.  The number varies depending on the office.  Signing does not commit you to that candidate.  And you can sign as many as you want, I believe.  Perhaps the person who told you that was trying to prevent you from signing his or her opponent&#039;s petition.</description>

		<description>How does the petition signing thing work?  I heard that in VT you can only sign petitions once a year for candidates to get on the ballot...or is that just for statewide office?  Whatever I heard, it sounded weird.</description>
