The Free Press began its coverage of the Burlington City Council races today, with Ward 1.
Ward 1 is looking at a four-way race. It looks interesting…
This year, however, one challenger to incumbent Democrat Ed Adrian wants to become a councilor so he can alert residents that they’re being sprayed from airplanes with “toxins and pathogens” by the federal government. Derek Case lists himself (”symbolically,” he says) as an anti-Mason. The government’s intent, Case said, is “eventually, a culling of the population.”
The other two challengers are Green candidate Maria Calderon and independent Paul Cook.
The Burlington election coverage continues next week:
Monday, Ward 2
Tuesday, Ward 3
Wednesday, Ward 5
Thursday, Ward 6
Friday, Ward 7
The Ward 4 race is uncontested.

I managed to catch part of the Ch. 17 Ward 1 candidate debate the other day. Mr. Case was rockin’ the punker look. I loved his answer to the marijuana question towards the end. It was good TV…
It was also interesting to see Councilor Adrian come out in support of the Moran Plant redevelopment. I saw him at the city’s press conference down by the Sailing Center. Ch. 17 always has it covered.

Actually I saw a documentary about how the government is using planes to spray a sort of haze across the sky in an effort to battle gluba wuba (global warming). It’s a crackpot approach by the government in my opinion, but the crackpots who discuss such things aren’t entirely off-base.
That said, I don’t think Ed will have any trouble breaking 40% to win his first full term, and I’m glad to hear he supports redeveloping Moran. Me too. To just knock it down would be such a waste.
