From Barack Obama’s speech in Texas last night,
And if that child should ever get the chance to travel the world and someone should ask her where is she from, we believe that she should always be able to hold her head high with pride in her voice when she answers, “I am an American.”
Just for the record, I am proud to be an American, now.
What I want to know is, Does this stuff resonate with anyone who is not on the left? I mean, do normal people hate America, too?
Elect me! I have lots of great ideas on how to make America so I don’t hate it.
Certainly a different campaign strategy.

Again, not an Obama supporter here, but travel the world and see the way that America is viewed by those outside this country. Heck, just go up to Canada and see. Bushy Boy has taken unprecidented good will towards the USA after 9/11 and turned it into dust. This is not a good thing IMO.

I don’t base how I feel about myself or my country on what others think.
There is no reason to not be proud of being an American.

Well, I agree with your first statement there, but it is harder to get things done internationally when you are scorned. We really can’t bully everyone into doing that we want them to. I just don’t think that’s a smart way to go about things.

There’s not really much to be proud of right now, Charity. I’ve never been one to get on the ‘pride’ bandwagon. I’d fel the same if I lived in Italy or the Netherlands. I’m more ashamed of our country than anything else.
