"I oppose a 4-year term simply because it will give the state government a longer period of time to get things done, a reason given by some to extend the terms.

When it comes to government, I say, the less it gets done, the better."

This is an excellent example of a typical VT irrational feeling of distrust in govt.. Wouldn't you like to give the statewide office holders in VT more time to cut your taxes, cut regulations, embrace the free market, etc., etc.?

You don't think that Gov. Jimmy D. has been campaigning for re-election since right after his last election? I know he has. The fact the state Dems can't get their act together because of almost complete incompetence on their part is a non-issue in the 4-year term discussion I think.

Asking a politicians to plan past their next election is a rarity indeed. It's past time for VT to join to the 20th century in many different ways, and extending statewide term limits is one of them.
