Reader Roundtable: Favorite Charities
So, tomorrow is the big day when we in the She’s Right home will get our economic stimulus money.
Any time money comes into our lives, whether it is earned, a gift, or on loan from China, we give 10% in thanks to God for all He has given us.
I’m not trying to sound all pious or self-righteous; it is just something we like to do. It’s really fun to give money away.
Most of our regular monthly tithe goes to our church and a couple of Christian ministries that brought me to the Lord, unless God puts it on our hearts to give it to someone else. But when we get unexpected money, it gives us a chance to give it somewhere that we normally do not give to.
So, what do you think we should do with it? What are your favorite charities?
And just to show you that I am not all good, tomorrow I will tell you about something completely selfish I am doing with the rest of the money.

Haik Bedrosian says:
I reccomend Amnesty International or The ACLU.
Bob says:
What’s the name of that church Obama goes to?
Dana says:
Well, you know my suggestion already. But I thought I’d sell it a little more.
“More than 83 cents of every dollar raised directly supports our research, education and support initiatives. In fact, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation ranks third among the eleven leading health non-profits in the percent of expense devoted to research for a cure. We consistently exceed the standards of the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance and receive an “A” rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy.”
And they depend solely on private donations…no public money.
I know it is a tough sell when you are comparing it to Obama’s church or the ACLU, but I had to try.

Off the top of my head, I like the Professional Firefighters of VT, the Salvation Army, and the American Cancer Society. Most of those organizations have personally helped my family out in the past.
