I'm still far from convinced that anything needs to be done to help out the stock and financial markets (beyond the FDIC thing). I was thinking about this post a little while ago and I realized that I should have been more specific about that. I meant, if they thought this bill would help, they should have passed it. They should not oppose it for partisan reasons. The news reports indicated that Republicans supported it, until Pelosi's speech. If they thought it was a bad bill, then they should not have passed it for that reason, of course. I didn't read the bill, so I am not offering an opinion on this specific bill, just that I think there is a legitimate role for the government to play here, if it will help.
