So, tomorrow (Wednesday) is the last presidential debate. This one is supposed to be about domestic issues.
I think that McCain needs to focus on Obama’s tax plan. There is so much there that the media is giving him a free pass on.
For one, the 95% figure is off, according to analysts.
For two, his “tax cuts” are really refundable tax credits. For some people, they will have the same effect as a tax rate cut, but for others – specifically those with no children – they will not see the magical tax decreases Obama promises. And for people who currently pay no taxes, they will see these credits in the form of a big, fat welfare check from the IRS.
This is income redistribution or, as Obama puts it, spreading the wealth around.
But, he’s not a socialist. <wink, wink>
Obama is raising taxes on the top 5%, so that the bottom 40% who pay no (ZERO dollars) income taxes can receive a check.
No doubt some people will love Obama’s Robin Hood tax policy, but robbing from the rich is still just common thievery.
My guess is the majority of Americans think Obama is talking about plain old tax cuts, not this wealth spreading. The progressive left notwithstanding, most Americans still oppose this type of legalized theft.
The Obama people know this, or else he would not use such deliberately misleading language to describe his tax policy.
I think McCain can score some major gains by getting this issue into the light of day.
Of course, McCain also needs to present what he will do for the country and how he is different from George W. Bush. Honestly, that shouldn’t be too hard, since he is different from Bush.
For McCain, this is his last hurrah. He needs to make it count.
At this point, I honestly don’t think it’s over for McCain, yet.

Redistribution of wealth is what govenment is. If government didn’t take from someone to give to someone else, it wouln’t exist. Everything government is and does comes down to wealth distribution, not just tax refunds.
How is taxing for anything- soldiers, senators, space shuttles, bank bail-outs, eternal flames, foreign aid- not also “common theivery” as you put it? The government takes from some and gives to others in all cases.

Using a collective pool of tax dollars to pay for government operations and defense is not income redistribution, no matter how you spin it.
Raising taxes on a certain income group with the express purpose of giving that money to another income group in order to “spread the wealth” is.

Yes it is. One person is taxed to pay another. Why don’t you consider that “common thievery?”
