I have always considered myself a Republican, but I have something more important than party loyalty to consider. I have to think about my two bi-racial sons. They will be personally impacted by racial attitudes in this country, and by extension, so will I. A mother hurts when her sons are hurt.

I can’t identify with a party that is so blatantly racist.

The Republicans want people to think that Obama is different. They say Obama is elitist. They tell people that he doesn’t understand them.

Sen. Obama: Anybody gone into Whole Foods lately and see what they charge for arugula?

Obviously, words like “different” are code words. What they really are trying to say is that they don’t want to see a black person in any visible executive office in the United States government.

I mean, surely, Republicans would never, ever treat a white candidate the way they are treating Obama, accusing him of not being like us.

According to the liberal history books, in 1988 the GOP cast Michael Dukakis as too elitist, cosmopolitan and not American enough. In 1992, it ran a similar attack against Bill Clinton – remember the hullabaloo about draft dodging and that trip to Russia? In 2000, ditto with Al Gore, though the emphasis was less on foreignness and more on extraterrestrialness. And in 2004, there was John Kerry’s “global test” for U.S. national security. Lack of originality notwithstanding, why is it suddenly racist to treat Obama just like the four white guys who preceded him? Talk about racial double standards. [link]

The Democratic Party thinks that a black candidate cannot withstand the same attacks that a white candidate can. The liberal media thinks that it should sit on the stories that might cast Obama in a negative light. They don’t think a black man is capable of being elected president without receiving special treatment.

I could never belong to a party that is so blatantly racist.

That’s why I don’t.

  1. Huh?

  2. I have to think about my two bi-racial sons.

This isn’t the first time you’ve brought up that your kids are bi-racial. Are we allowed to ask about their father or fathers, or is that out of bounds?

Also, don’t you think it will be good for them to see on election day that race doesn’t have to be a barrier to anything, including the presidency?

  3. They have one father. I am not sure what kind of questions you are talking about or how that is relevant, but ask away.

Race doesn’t have to be a barrier to anything. They do not have any inkling that it would be, at this point. They haven’t learned victimology yet. They know that there are racist idiots out there, but they haven’t learned to blame racism for everything bad that happens to them. Hopefully, they never will.

I think voting for Obama just because he’s black is the ultimate insult to black people. Shouldn’t we hold the same standards for black candidates, ie that they be qualified and have good ideas that we agree with, that we do for white ones? I wouldn’t vote for Obama if he was the whitest white guy in whitey-ville. Race is not a factor at all in this for me.

  4. Owen, the post is meant to be satirical. Yeah, I’m not that good at satire. That’s okay. One cannot be good at everything.

  5. I am not sure what kind of questions you are talking about or how that is relevant, but ask away.

Thanks. Where is he? Do the boys ever see him? And does he pay child support?

I can’t imagine never seeing my kids. I think I’d rather die.

  6. Haik,
I don’t think race is a barrier to anything anymore. The civil rights struggle was over decades ago. Now it’s more of a hindrance to black progress than anything.
What good will a left-wing black president gettting elected when they were kids do? His presidency will be as bad or worse as Jimmy Carter’s. Besides, they are anything but fans of Obama. Even they can see through him. They’ve got the blessing of having no liberal white guilt and aren’t into the habit of blaming white people for everything that goes wrong!

Unlike you liberals, we’re not going to make excuses for them. ‘It’s because your black’ is never going to be used to justify failure. And ‘It’s because I’m black’ are not words they will want to say in my presence!

The point of this post (which is obviously satirical) is that Democrats are racists and don’t think blacks can make it without the help of the bleeding heart white folk.

  7. Well Bob, I totally disagree with all that. Anybody going to answer my questions?

  8. I am still laughing at the thought of the boys saying, “It’s because I’m black” to Bob.

I hate to turn this into an insider conversation, but, Bob, can you imagine what EL would say if I told him I was going to vote for Obama because I want him to see a black president?

I should record his “Hope for change and change for hope” Obama impersonation and You Tube it.

Haik, the boys’ father lives in Florida, he sees them rarely, and he does not pay support. I don’t understand it either. That’s all I will say about it on this blog, though.

  9. Hard to fathom, but I can’t fathom a lot of things. People walk through life with burdens I can’t imagine. I hope I can continue to stay clear… knock wood.

I’m not suggesting anyone vote for Obama because of his race. His far superior policies and intellect are reason enough. I’m just saying it will be nice to see that being black didn’t stop the better candidate from winning as it arguably has in the past.

  10. “I’m not suggesting anyone vote for Obama because of his race. His far superior policies and intellect are reason enough.”

    Egads!
Obama’s ‘far superior policies’ are the same tired old democratic policies that have been failing for decades.
As for Obama’s ’superior intellect’, give me a break. He’s nothing more than a charismatic personality and a gifted speaker.

  11. “I wouldn’t vote for Obama if he was the whitest white guy in whitey-ville.”

Charity please. We could never afford to live in Whitey-ville.
The best we could ever hope for is a small place across the tracks in East Honkeytown!! :)

  12. Charity,
    Oops. I misread your comment.
    Forget the Honkeytown thing.

  13. I still thought your comment was funny.

  14. Every time I see that picture of Condi, I can’t help but think about how awesome it would be if she were the Republican candidate.

  15. Yeah, she would have cleaned up in the election.
Can you imagine Obama yammering on about how she doesn’t have any executive or foreign policy experience? That would be funny. Obama: “Yeah, I went to Africa once when I was in college.” Condi: “I’m the Secretary of State!”
The liberals would freak out. They’d get meaner than they have w/ Palin.

  16. Oh, there’s just too much humor in this post and the comments, where to begin? Borderline retardations that only conservatives can spew…

“Race is no longer a barrier to anything…”

“Condi would be a great candidate/wouldv’e cleaned up in the election…” (considering she’s one of the most visible faces on the Iraq war, that’d sure be interesting, to say hte least)

“Obama’s nothing more than a gifted speaker” (who, by the way, has one of the highest IQ’s of any soon to be prez).

and of course, anything that starts with the “liberal media”.

This site is quickly turning ito one big parody, something I suspect will get worse as the conservative movement finally gets flushed down the port-potti of history, where it rightly belongs. Thanks for screwing this country, folks. I can’t wait to have to watch y’all suck it for the next 10 years or so.

  17. Wow, JD, you sure are awfully angry for someone who is supposedly getting what he wants. I’d hate to see how you act when you’re losing.

  18. This is about the Republican politicians using fear based “us v them”, and for today’s white Republican politician blacks are an easy to identify “them”. Thing to do is add up all the elected black Republican’s in D.C. That’ll help show you where the Repubs are coming from.

Thinking people really need to think.

  19. Darn, can’t embed a Youtube video on this blog … here’s the link … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRqcfqiXCX0

  20. Nah, not racist at all.

  21. I would say this is more of a generational election rather than a racial one. Baby boomers of all stripes still can’t get over the 1960s and so for them this is the whole “first Black President” thing. Just look at Chris Matthews and the show Hardball. With him it as if we are reliving the civil rights movement.

For Obama’s generation (Generation X, b. 1961 to 1981 according to Howe and Strauss) race isn’t the central factor. We grew up mostly after the major racial problems of the 1950s and 1960s. I doubt many of this generation would think twice about voting for a black president as long as he or she had the right policies and a good vision for America.

I’m voting against Obama not because he is black but because he is progressive. I’m voting against Obama because he is in favor of abortion and gay rights and gun control and socialism. But I will say that it will be a big day for Generation X if he is elected: we will have finally come into our own on the national stage.

  22. I think you’re correct, NP, and I think Obama sees it that way too (I’m not speaking up FOR him, just about him). I believe this because we saw a total disconnect between how Obama viewed the world and his pastor, Rev Wright, saw things.

Obama sees a world where most of the knee jerk racism had been put in the past: Wright still sees a world where racism was obvious and rampant … and I don’t blame him one bit.
