Last night, I was with the Vermont Republican Party in Montpelier, doing interviews for Channel 17. And there is no place that I would have rather been.

On a night when the Republican Party faced defeat across the country, the VTGOP was a happy place to be. Tears of joy were shed.

In the first state called for Obama, where he received 67% of the vote according to early results, a Republican Governor won re-election handily with two liberal opponents.

Gov. Jim Doglas faced attacks from two sides and was still able to walk away with 56% of the vote. His Democratic and Progressive rivals together totaled just 40%.

I want to talk a little more about what I think that means, but right now I am too tired. I didn’t get home until after midnight.

So, I’ll just say this, it was a great night in Montpelier.
