Hey blog readers, long time no post.  Sorry about that.  See, as you probably know, I homeschool three active young boys and we are only a couple of weeks away from Christmas.  It is utter madness around here.  Utter.  Madness.  (Don’t you hate it when people do that?  Do. That.  I do.  Almost as much as when they spell “yea” – “yay.”)

Plus, the eldest has a birthday next week and he’s getting a Nintendo DS.  The average American probably does not see why that is such a big deal.  In fact, the average American probably wonders why the soon-to-be-12-year-old boy does not already have a DS.  It’s because we are weird people.  Like the kind of people who just upgraded to a Game Cube from a Super NES.  And we don’t spend that much on birthdays, either.  In fact, we pooled resources with other relatives and he still had to chip in $20 that he earned.  But, he is getting a limited edition Mario DS with game.  So, you can imagine that he is very excited.  Which means the others are too.  The interesting thing about boys is that they feed off each other’s excitement.

In the midst of this crazy, excited boy madness, I also have cleaning, decorating, shopping, menu planning (for two Christmas dinners), and I make a bunch of homemade gifts, too.  That’s why I haven’t been posting.

Oh, you didn’t come here to read about that?  You want to talk about politics.  Okay.  So what’s new?

- Kurt Wright (R) is announcing his run for Mayor of Burlington this evening at City Hall.  I will not be there.  I have a prior commitment.  Rumor has it Channel 17 will have some live coverage during the 5:25 time slot.  (It was supposed to be the Burlington GOP Show, but everyone will be at the announcement.)

- This Blago-what-his-face scandal is occupying way too much news and blog coverage.  A Chicago politician is corrupt?  Now there’s a shocker!  It does not appear that Obama was involved.  He was the one offering only gratitude, after all.

- The auto bailout passed the House, where Republicans finally started acting like Republicans are supposed to, as in, fighting government spending.

Did I miss anything?  All of the other political news reports are about Obama and I swore off any Obama commentary (Obamentary?) until after he is actually, you know, President.

Talk amongst yourselves.
