Wow, it sure has been a long time! It is good for the soul to take a blogging break. This one was totally unplanned, but next time I will try to let you know ahead of time.
I am counting down the days until I can start blogging about President Obama. As I said before, I am waiting until he is in office – and not in a made-up office – before I unleash my fury.
There was a mayoral debate in Burlington this morning. The Free Press had streaming video and a live-blog. I watched part of it, but it was during homeschooling time, so I had to jump off.
I plan to watch the video, if I can, or read the live-blog and post my thoughts. Initial reaction – once people get into Burlington politics, they never leave. It gets boring looking at the same faces. I welcome Dan Smith to this race. Seriously.
More importantly, on my way home this afternoon, I turned on Rush Limbaugh and he claims to have watched an advanced copy of hours 1-4 of the new season of 24 premiering Sunday. He said it was AWESOME! Yea!
Bob and I started watching 24 last season. (Which was two years ago.) We saw the entire season, but we had not seen any previous seasons. Everyone said it was not very good, but we liked it.
Then, we saw season one and holy cow! That show is so unbelievably cool. And, yes, season 6 was not very good, comparatively.
Well, Rush said season seven is back to the goodness of 24s past. I cannot wait.
Speaking of season 1, we are actually still watching it. In the past week, we have watched 14 hours of it. (Hours, as in episodes.) Bear in mind that we normally watch 2-3 hours a week of TV. I hope we can finish it before season 7 starts.
I updated my commenting policy. Nothing fancy. It just explains the one-time moderation policy and that I reserve the right to delete potty-mouthed comments. I only had to do that once, on the Burton post.
I also added a blog to the blogroll – Big Bag of Wind. It is conservative. I know who the author is, but I do not see it on the site, so for now, let’s just say it is anonymous.
That’s all I have for now. What’s new with you?

Every good New Year wishe to you and your family, Charity. At first I’d thought you’d flown to Hawaii to have a luau with the Obama family /sarcasm/. Welcome back!

(festive–thought you’d really REALLY like this, Charity–Jan. 8, 1959; Fidel marches into Havana!)
Sierra Maestra
remember the turn of events
that can free a people
and make for community
young rebels left a message
telling how to do it
it’s not rocket science
old rebels now rest in the shade
and mercenaries round up children
to hold the world hostage
but events will turn again
for all the might and all the wealth
cannot beat or buy the rebel’s love
Happy Cuban Revolution!
