I was in Montpelier today for one of two tea parties in Vermont.  The crowd was a little bigger than the “23 confused looking folks” predicted by VDB.

Here’s a look at the crowd, via video.  I have to warn you, it is a little shaky.  I was trying to navigate my way through the crowd, without saying “excuse me” on camera.

No word yet on the turn out in Rutland, where Tea Party participation was expected to be even greater.

I put together a little montage of the protest signs, in case you missed it.

  1. I’m very happy to say that Vermont now recognizes the civil rights of same-sex couples under the marriage laws.

Since I know you have expressed concerns about how this will impact religious freedom, I thought you might appreciate this YouTube video, Charity.

It talks about the MA Catholic Charities case and others.

As a person of faith, this issue is important to me too.

  2. Funny stuff, all of it.

  3. Thanks for the great coverage, Charity.

  4. Charity,

This isn’t the Ayn Rand in me speaking, it’s the socialist: Plain and simple, the rich and the corporations have been pigging-out for decades. They are not paying their just share for all the power they have. It’s called fascism. I’d rather have socialism.

  5. Oh, Pete, must we part company this way? Can’t we just take the political power away from the corporations, rather than have socialism? WWRD – what would Rand do? :)

  6. Jessica, thanks for your work on the event.

Tom, I will take a look at that video tonight.

  7. Well, since I’m ‘anti-social’ anyway, I’d be willing to stick with Democracy as long as it ain’t Socialism For The Rich.

    Fair enough, Charity?

  8. “Plain and simple, the rich and the corporations have been pigging-out for decades. ”

So have the poor and the middle class.
So have the Federal, State, and local governments for that matter.

We’ve burned up decades of prosperity and possibly sacrificed our national sovereignty in a short fifteen years all to indulge our materialistic desires.

  9. Thank you for posting that video Charity, we will use the coverage on our Public Access show tonight, I’ve also put your blog as a link on ours. http://www.asrblog.com
