Here is a round-up of the latest and greatest regarding the Moran Plant votes courtesy of the Front Porch Forum.

*****

Channel 17/Town Meeting TV will host a community forum on the 2
advisory Burlington ballot items on the future of the Moran Plant. Local radio
host Mark Johnson (WDEV’s ‘Mark Johnson Show’) will moderate the
discussion between proponents of BOTH ballot initiatives. Questions will be
taken from the studio audience as well as phone calls. The forum runs
from 6pm- 7pm on Thursday, February 28th. We encourage community members
to join us in our studio for this Live forum and add their voice to
the mix.

Scheduled for Thursday, February 28th, 6pm-7pm. Live Call-In, studio
audience and questions welcomed.

Ask questions and get information about the City’s Moran Redevelopment
Plan! The City’s final informational meeting on the redevelopment
plan will be held on February 25 from 6-8 pm at Contois Auditorium. The
redevelopment plan is on the March 4 Town Meeting Day ballot as Question
1.

The proposal includes public observation decks, cafe and restaurant,
bathrooms, glycol method outdoor ice rink [not weather dependent] in
winter, children’s spray area in summer, redesigned and newly rebuilt
skateboard park, site-designed park area (new lighting, lawn maintenance,
appropriate furniture), renovated bike path, integrated transportation
plan, with overall public management by the Parks and Recreation
Department; as well as a world-class indoor ice and rock climbing family
adventure facility, restaurant and cafe, children’s museum and expanded
community sailing center.

The City has also updated its Frequently Asked Questions on Moran
Redevelopment.

The FAQ includes information, among other things, about the anticipated
economic and community benefits, environmental features of the
redeveloped building, project costs, what a “yes” vote to support the plan
means, how the City would be protected if the project moves forward, and
the structural integrity of the building.
