I was just reading Town Hall and I saw an ad for a t-shirt that said, “Powered by Capitalism.”
I said, “I should put that on my blog by the paid links. You know, like Obama’s website says ‘Powered by Hope’? But my blog is powered by capitalism.  They don’t accept ‘hope’ for my [...]

I cannot believe that Tim Russert is dead.
My husband told me the news when we were driving home from his office this evening. I had been at the beach all day with the kids, so I hadn’t heard.
I was a huge fan of Tim Russert. I even had a crush on him in [...]

This morning, my 9YO son kept saying, “You need capitalism,” to his 4YO brother.
Can you imagine the music to my ears those words are coming from one of my dear children?
Actually, he meant capitalization. The 4YO needed to capitalize the word he was writing.
Still, music to my ears.

There have been quite a few stories lately about how people will be spending their economic stimulus money. Most people, it seems, will pay down debt. That is a great idea.
But what if you have been living like paupers for the last couple of years, so you could finally be debt free? [...]

The other night, I was on my way to the Hannaford supermarket in South Burlington and I stopped at K-Mart to look at a couple of things.
On my way out to my car, a man stopped me and told me that he locked his keys in his car and wondered if I happened to be [...]

You might notice that the conservative Vermont blogs are listed both under They’re Right and Vermont Bloggers. That’s because I wanted to make [...]

Every time I watch Power Rangers in Space with my 4-year-old son, I crack up laughing when I hear Zhane say, “Mega Winger online.”
You know, because the lefties use the phrase “mega winger” sometimes to describe right-wingers.
Too bad I didn’t know about Power Rangers in Space when I was starting a political blog. I [...]

Well, not quite, but I do have a couple of comments.
First, the Moran Redevelopment passed! Woo-hoo!
I totally supported this plan. In an ideal world, the city would have sold the property to a developer and washed its hands of the whole thing (and watched the tax dollars roll in once it was developed). [...]

The Free Press had a story today about a UVM Physics professor named Dennis Clougherty which was a terrific article if you are interested in that sort of stuff.
I was kind of surprised that they had such a science-y article on the front page. I am curious what prompted it.

Anyway, I thought it was [...]

An interesting opinion piece on WashingtonPost.com examines why Republicans are happier than Democrats, according to the 2006 Pew Research poll.
Republicans have been happier than Democrats every year since the General Social Survey, conducted biannually by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, began asking about happiness in 1972.
It is worth noting [...]
